Scardycat reflection

Scaredycat Reflection
At the beginning of this video, I saw a person (Andy) who is used to a very structured lifestyle be faced with a traumatic experience that changed him. Andy’s mindset was completely changed after he was beaten and robbed by a group of guys. After this incident Andy began to become more protective of himself and have more racial biases. While I can relate to Andy’s want to protect himself after a traumatic experience, I feel like Andy went a step to far in trying to avoid African American men. Andy became more cautious around them, even though White and Hispanic men also beat him up. His change in character was a bit extreme, however Andy showed a lot of bravery when confronting one of his attackers over the phone. Facing your fears while it can be scary and uncomfortable, is necessary for growing and moving on as a person. I can relate and understand where Andy is coming from, because Andy could find closer until he confronted his attacker.
Another topic to discuss is the style of filming or formatting of the movie. Andy starts the video off with an interview style format, then mixed things up by adding animations to the video. I really like the way this video was formatted. The animated/cartoon scene was when Andy was being beaten up. I feel like this was animated to show how Andy’s mind processed that experience. I feel that Andy was so shaken by this experience that his mind was in disbelief. I can relate to this, because sometimes I have to rethink what happens in certain situations. Sometimes a situation becomes so bizarre that you need time to process what happened.
